A drug-addled Brooklyn middle school teacher forms a friendship with a student aware of his troubled personal life.

ABSTRACT
Dan Dunne is the picture of perfection at his workplace, captivating his history students in a troubled inner-city school while coaching the girl's basketball team. Dan's personal life leaves much to be desired, however; mired in an on-again, off-again relationship with hard drugs, he struggles to maintain regular contact with his family, perpetually teetering on the brink of checking into a rehab facility. Drey, a student of Dan's and member of his basketball team, catches her "perfect" teacher and coach smoking crack in a school bathroom one day, opting to form a friendship with him borne out of sympathy owing to similar troubles within her own family.
