American Standard
COMPANY
Manufacturing conglomerate, including American Standard, Trane, Porcher, etc. Founded 1929 by the merger of American Radiator (established 1892) and Standard Sanitary. In 2007, American Standard broke itself up into three companies -- WABCO (automotive components) and American Standard Brands (kitchen and bathroom fixtures, acquired by Bain Capital) were spun off, and the remainder of the company renamed itself Trane. At the end of that year, Trane announced it was being acquired by Ingersoll-Rand.
