Motion picture equipment company, maker of Panaflex movie cameras. Founded 1953 by Robert Gottschalk, with cinematographers Richard Moore and Meredith Nicholson, screen manufacturer Harry Eller, optical engineer Walter Wallin, and optics manufacturer William Mann. Sold to film producer Sy Weintraub's Banner Productions in 1965. Sold to Kinney Corporation in 1967, which purchased Warner Bros. the following year. Sold by Warners to Ted Field (grandson of Marshall Field) in 1982. Sold to Lee International in 1987. Sold to Warburg Pincus in 1988. Went public in 1996. Majority interest acquired by Mafco in 1998.
