Hollinger International

COMPANY

Media holding company, owner of the The Chicago Sun-Times and previously the The Jerusalem Post, The London Daily Telegraph, and about 20 other local papers.

A report filed with the SEC revealed in 2004 that CEO Conrad Black and associates allegedly "looted" $400M from the paper during 1997-2003, a figure approximately equal to the profits of the company. Black and three Hollinger executives were indicted 2005 on several counts of fraud, and convicted of a subset July 2007. Black's Canadian holding company, Hollinger Inc., filed for bankruptcy two weeks later. The surviving board of Hollinger International reformed the company as Sun-Times Media Group in 2006.
