Holding company created in 1968 for the Chicago & North Western Railway. by 1972 it was a conglomerate and Chicago & North Western was divested. The company manufactured various consumer products, including "Fruit of the Loom" underwear. Northwestern Industries was acquired in 1985 by William F. Farley, and renamed Farley Industries. That company went bankrupt in 1991 and had its assets sold off.
