550 attorneys, founded 1853 by Frederic René Coudert, later joined by his brothers, Charles Jr. and Louis Leonce Coudert. All were sons of a Frenchman, Charles Coudert. After a failed merger, in late 2005 Coudert Brothers announced that it would dissolve, its attorneys dispersing themselves to other firms.
