Cheated employees who had vested shares in the company, by a "repurchase right" buried in the fine print of their contracts. This clause allowed what were represented as vested options to be repurchased at cost, should the employee depart the company after fewer than five years for any reason, including involuntary termination. Such clauses are essentially unknown in the industry, considered by many to be dishonest trickery.

Skype fired a number of senior executives immediately before the purchase by Microsoft, almost certainly to prevent them from exercising their options.
