Testing Date Search
The NNDB Search Engine has been upgraded. When using the (default) name searching feature, queries for dates now return better results. If your query looks like a date, birthdays and date of death will be searched. We support various date formats including:

• The format used by NNDB on all pages, 20-Apr-1940, works and will search births and deaths
• 4/20 (births and deaths on April 20)
• 12/25/1969 (births and deaths on Christmas, 1969)
• 1/1950 (January 1950)
• 2001 (births and deaths in 2001)
• January 1, 1940 will search birthdates, deathdates then show partial matches
• Dashes are fine anywhere slashes are used: 4-20-1970
• 20010101 (January 1, 2001)
• born 1969 shows people born in 1969. searching for b. 1969 is also supported.
• Likewise, died 1969 shows people who passed away in 1969. searching for d. 1969 also works.

(It has been pointed out how U.S.-centric the date conventions we adopted are.)
