SPORTS FRANCHISE

MLB team founded 1901 as the Milwaukee Brewers (not to be confused with present-day team of that name), a founding member of the American League. Moved to St Louis in 1902-53, and won just one league pennant, in 1944. Franchise renamed and relocated as the Baltimore Orioles in 1954.
