Kennedy in order to obtain the presidential nomination of his party. Giancana's behavior was too high profile for the Mafia's taste, and attracted far too much federal scrutiny. After an exile in Mexico, Giancana was murdered in his basement with multiple gunshots to the head, before he could give Senate testimony on CIA plots to assassinate Fidel Castro.
