Raised in Philadelphia. Joined Knopf Publishing Group in 1986, for whom he has created over 1500 book cover designs, as documented in Work\: 1986-2006. The combination of his and Chris Ware's collection of Peanuts memorabilia formed the basis for Peanuts: The Art of Charles M. Schulz, a book noted for its superb layout.
