A short man, four foot eleven, known as "Tater". He was a regular at the Grand Ole Opry, originally invited as a guest by Roy Acuff. Country novelty hits include Country Boy (1949) and A-Sleepin' at the Foot of the Bed (1950) and his most well known recording, May the Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose (1965). Dickens was hospitalized for pneumonia in 2004.
