After nearly a decade of suspicion on Ramsey's parents, failed schoolteacher John Mark Karr was arrested for the murder in Thailand and held for extradition for the United States. Investigation later revealed that Karr could not possibly have been present in Boulder at the time of the murder. The investigation continues. [1] The body of the 6-year-old beauty pageant winner was found in the wine cellar of her family's Boulder, Colorado mansion the day after Christmas, 1996. The girl had been strangled, head caved in, and she was sexually assaulted.
