A former federal prosecutor, Barbara Olson investigated the Travelgate and Filegate scandals of the Clinton administration. Olson subsequently wrote two books, both efforts to undermine the Clinton legacy: Hell to Pay: The Unfolding Story of Hillary Rodham Clinton and The Final Days: The Last, Desperate Abuses of Power by the Clinton White House (published posthumously). She characterized Bill Clinton's mother as "a bar-fly who allowed herself to be used by men."

Killed by al Qaeda terrorists when they steered her plane, American Airlines flight 77, into the Pentagon on September 11th. Olson spoke her last words to her husband into her cell phone from inside a locked airplane lavatory: "What do I tell the pilot to do?"
