Law has been most effective in somewhat off-kilter movie roles. He played an alcoholic paraplegic in Gattaca, and was murdered in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and The Talented Mr. Ripley. He played a sadistic killer in Road to Perdition, and a mechanical sex toy who befriended Haley Joel Osment in A.I.
As a struggling actor, he once shared an apartment with Ewan McGregor, and they remain friends and partners in a production company, called Natural Nylon.
