Gender: Male Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Actor Nationality: United States Executive summary: The Riddler in Batman Military service: US Army (1953-55) Having served as an entertainer during the Korean War, Gorshin appeared as an impressionist on The Ed Sullivan Show, but had the ill luck of debuting on that show on the same episode as The Beatles. Though he has been in a large number of movies and even more TV guest appearances, Gorshin is best known for playing the Riddler in TV's Batman series, in green suit and bowler hat with a maniacal laugh. He is also remembered for the role of Bele in the Star Trek episode Let That Be Your Last Battlefield (1966, emmy nomination). His race was white on the left, black on the right side, bisecting his body vertically; his enemy Lokai, was of the race having opposite polarity. In 2002 he played the lead in a Broadway production of Say Goodnight Gracie as George Burns. Gorshin appeared in the season finale of CSI soon before his death from lung cancer and emphysema in a Burbank hospital in May 2005.
