Christian Slater AKA Christian Michael Leonard Gainesborough Slater Born: 18-Aug-1969 Birthplace: New York City
Gender: Male Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Actor Nationality: United States Executive summary: Kuffs, True Romance Christian Slater has been a professional actor since he was 7, when his mother, a Hollywood casting director, decided he was perfect for a recurring role on One Life to Live. Slater later played a troubled teen on Ryan's Hope, where his father, Michael Hawkins, had played the soap opera's original Frank Ryan.
Slater came to fame with his near mute role at 15 in The Name of the Rose opposite Sean Connery and F. Murray Abraham. He made several outstanding films in his early years, including Heathers with Winona Ryder and Shannen Doherty, Pump Up the Volume with Samantha Mathis, and True Romance with Patricia Arquette and Dennis Hopper. His career has been in something of an extended slump since 1995's Murder in the First with Kevin Bacon and Gary Oldman.
In 1989, Slater was arrested after leading police on a wild chase through the streets of West Hollywood (and eventually the sidewalks, after Slater crashed his car into a telephone pole). He was charged with evading police, driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, and assault with a deadly weapon. In 1994, he was arrested when he tried to board a commercial flight with a 9mm pistol in his luggage.
A former lover, Hollywood wanna-be Nina Huang, sued Slater for palimony after their 1995 break-up. They had lived together for five years, and she alleged that she gave up her career to support him. She reportedly collected only $100,000.
He was arrested again at a party in 1997, for beating his then-girlfriend, fashion editor Michelle Jonas, and for biting a man who attempted to protect her. When the police arrived, Slater did not go quietly, but hid in a stairwell and fought with officers, reportedly shouting, "the Germans are coming and they will kill us!" Slater later explained that he had been bingeing on heroin and cocaine, and hadn't slept in days. All the felony charges against him were eventually dropped. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, and released after 59.
In 2003, Slater was booted from the London "lap-dancing club" Stringfellows when he refused to take off his Richard Nixon mask. A bouncer told reporters, "It was a bit disconcerting for the girls to be dancing for someone who looked like a weirdo. So one of the promoters asked him to remove the mask. He just wouldn't take it off, so the decision was taken to ask him to leave".
Slater's wife, Ryan Haddon, was arrested in 2003 for throwing a whisky glass at Slater while they were on vacation in Vegas. The glass shattered against Slater's head and left a gash behind his left ear that needed 20 stitches. She was reportedly infuriated that he had gone to a topless club without her. Haddon is the daughter of former supermodel Dayle Haddon, a 1970s and 80s face who sold Max Factor, Revlon, Estee Lauder, and L'Oreal.
