Phil Keoghan AKA Philip John Keoghan Born: 31-May-1967 Birthplace: Christchurch, New Zealand
Gender: Male Race or Ethnicity: White Sexual orientation: Straight Occupation: Game Show Host, Daredevil Nationality: New Zealand Executive summary: The Amazing Race Despite his low-key persona as host and co-producer of TV's The Amazing Race, Phil Keoghan (rhymes with "no gun") has serious credentials as an adventurer. Working as an underwater cameraman for a New Zealand television show when he was 19, a power outage left him trapped 120 feet underwater in a submerged shipwreck, and he found his way through the darkness to the surface just before his scuba tanks ran out of oxygen. After that experience, Keoghan says he drew up a list of the things he wanted to do before he dies -- sky diving, shark diving, bungee-jumping, etc. Items not yet completed from his list include traveling to outer space and having a barbecue at the South Pole, but he has raced reindeer in Finland, drunk the blood of a cobra, walked across his native New Zealand, biked from Santa Monica to New York City, eaten dinner atop an erupting volcano, and putted across much of Scotland with more than 12,000 golf strokes. He has said that his philosophy is "to take as much of the opportunity to live as I can, because you look around you and you realize a lot of people are already dead."
