Discovered by Tommy Ridgley in 1959 when she was working as a waitress, she recorded You Can Have My Husband (But Please Don't Mess With My Man), which charted in May 1960. Other hits followed, including Ruler of My Heart and Cry On, but the song that leaves a bitter taste in her mouth is Time on My Side, appropriated by the The Rolling Stones to much greater success than she had with it.
