Served for Ronald Reagan on his Economic Policy Advisory Board (1981-89). Laffer is best known for the Laffer Curve, purportedly drawn for Dick Cheney on a napkin. The curve -- not specifically an original idea -- demonstrated tax revenues increasing as tax rates increase, but only up to a point. His idea was to increase revenue by lowering the tax rate.
