OPERA

Began as the the Theatre Royal in 1732, which was destroyed by fire in 1808 and reopened the following year. The theater was reconceived as the Royal Italian Opera in 1847, but was again destroyed by fire 1856. Reopened 1858, it became the Royal Opera House in 1892. Torn down and rebuilt 1999. Located in Covent Garden.
