ABSTRACT
Jane Austen is a precocious, individualistic young woman living in a time when women are expected to be exclusively subservient figures, desiring to forge her own path in life despite her parents' wishes to marry her off to a wealthy older man. Jane crosses paths with working-class Irishman Tom Lefroy, a wisecracking, intelligent young commoner after her heart, embarking on a romance poised to shake up the prevailing social order in a way that could jeopardize their relationships with their respective families.
