REVIEWS

Review by Zet Torbjörn Astner (posted on 21-Nov-2009)

Not a great film by any means, it still is very much worth watching for tthe participation of Elisha Cook Jr, who, of course, is always wonderful to watch, and -- most importantly -- for Laird Cregar, who is simply mesmerizing! The plot is weak, the leads are rather dull, but Laird Cregar makes such a haunting and frightening and, eventually, moving portrait of his character, that you will not stop watching this movie until it has reached it's sad ending. Oh, it's a happy ending for the leads all right, but you don't even notice that -- all you think of is the tragedy of the police detective Ed Cornell, played by Laird Cregar. Don't miss out on this wonderful actor!
