REVIEWS Review by JON CARUSO (posted on 4-Sep-2007) I enjoyed this film, it is the quintissental cold war thriller, russian paratroopers, US Marines, nuclear submarines all set in the arctic. throw in a british secret agent a russian double agent and a couple of tough Marine Corps officers and you have the formula for 2 hours of fun and vicarious thrills, break out the popcorn and enjoy a really cool trip under the polar ice cap. The acting is good and the cast great. Rock Hudson is great as the submarine commander, Patrick Mcgoohan as "MR JONES" and Jim Brown as a tough as nails Marine captain. The sets and effects are very good considering the year it was made;1968 and the flight scenes were really cool the minatures were very cool as was the undersea scenes, all in all a fun time buy it and have a blast!
