Keywords: Comedy, Rock and Roll

A washed-up musician itching for a gig poses as a substitute teacher at an upper-crust New York City school, looking to turn his class into a ragtag band.

ABSTRACT
Fired from his fledgling rock band and on the cusp of middle age, perpetual wild child Dewey Finn faces an uncertain future. Desperate for cash, Dewey poses as hapless friend and roommate Ned Schneebly to take a position as a substitute teacher at New York City's prestigious Horace Green preparatory school; charged with "educating" a group of fifth-graders, Dewey instead trains the children to form a rock band, looking to use them to win a Battle of the Bands competition and help pay his rent while facing opposition from increasingly skeptical parents and faculty all along the way. One of Jack Black's stronger roles, The School of Rock dovetailed rather nicely with his Tenacious D parody-rocker alter ego, earning positive marks from critics and audiences alike.
