History of the World: Part I (12-Jun-1981)

Director: Mel Brooks

Writer: Mel Brooks

Music: John Morris

Producer: Mel Brooks

Keywords: Comedy

The history of mankind as told in a series of elaborate episodic set pieces: the Stone Age, the Roman Empire, the Inquisition, French Revolution, etc. Spoofing the historical epic, there is much comedy but a good percentage falls flat, and today seems dated. History has its priceless moments, one such example the Spanish Inquisition had it been imagined by Busby Berkeley.
