REVIEWS

Review by Indrajit Ghosh (posted on 31-Dec-2007)

It's been 84 years since the tragedy of the RMS Titanic. Brock Lovett (Bill Paxton) goes to the botton of the North Atlantic to search for 'The Heart Of The Ocean' a diamond which was last seen on the Titanic before the sinking. He and his team go to where the diamond was said to be but only find a nude sketch of a woman wearing the daimond itself. Then, he recieves a sattelite call from 100 year old, Rose Calvert (Gloria Stuart) who claims she is the women in the drawing. She and her granddaughter, Lizzie fly over to Lovett's ship. Now, Rose tells them her story of when she was 17 years old... Her story started when she was a rich 17 year old girl (now played by Kate Winslet) who boarded the Titanic with her bossy mother (Frances Fisher) and her arragont fiance Cal Hockley (Billy Zane). One night, while attempting suicide, young Rose is stopped by a poor third class boy named Jack Dawson (Leonardo Dicaprio). As a thank you, for saving his fiance, Cal invites Jack to dinner the next evening. After the dinner, Jack and Rose go to a third class party anddance all night. When, Cal hears about this, he forbids his fiance from ever meeting Jack again. Later, Jack manages to snatch Rose and tries to convince her that she is in danger with her marriage to Cal. She chooses to stay with Cal but later realises that Jack was right and she goes back to him and they realise their love for each other. But fate play a cruel game as that night, the Titanic hits an iceberg and begins to sink and Jack and Rose's love story becomes a fight for survival...
