The Absent Minded Professor (16-Mar-1961)

Director: Robert Stevenson

Writer: Bill Walsh

From short story: A Situation of Gravity by Samuel W. Taylor

Keywords: Sci-Fi/Comedy, Flubber

College professor Ned Brainard invents a rubber variant that seemingly violates both Newton's Laws of Motion and the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics. His old Model T can magically fly, the basketball team can jump higher. Corrupt businessman Alonzo Hawk covets this new substance; Brainard's wife feels justifiably neglected. Received Oscar nominations for Best Cinematography, Best Set Decoration, and Best Special Effects. Dreadfully remade as Flubber (1997).
