Argo (31-Aug-2012)
Director: Ben Affleck Writer: Chris Terrio From article by: Joshuah Bearman Keywords: Thriller, Rescue Mission, Iran CIA operative Tony Mendez goes undercover as a movie director for the express purpose of rescuing American diplomats held hostage during the Iranian Revolution.
ABSTRACT Ben Affleck directs and stars in this political thriller depicting the CIA's "Argo" plot to rescue American diplomats held hostage inside their native country's embassy in Tehran during the most intense days of the Iranian Revolution. Despite Affleck's well-known personal political leanings, Argo does a reasonable job of approaching its subject matter and parties involved with an objective hand, and is likely to stir up a measure of patriotic fervor in even a few jaded minds by the conclusion of its storyline. Won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Film Editing; nominated for four others, including Best Supporting Actor.
