ABSTRACT
Johnny and Sarah Sullivan, working-class Irish nationals with two beloved daughters, respond to the unexpected death of young son Frankie by illegally immigrating to the United States via Canada. Deciding on Manhattan as their new home, the Sullivans settle into a tenement in a gritty part of town, doing their best to make it through the 1980s with nary a cent to their name as Johnny works towards his dream of becoming a famous actor.
