ABSTRACT
A young boy named Temujin searches for a girl to call his wife, aided on his expedition by his father; he selects a girl named Borte, promising to return five years later to marry her. Temujin's father's death pushes the sad boy into a depressing life of poverty and slavery, imbuing him with a desire for revenge against those responsible for wronging him that would see him mature into famed conqueror Genghis Khan. Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
