Set at the Matuschek and Company store in Budapest, Alfred Kralik and Klara Novak barely tolerate each other. They both fall in love with their respective pen-pals whom they have never met, and who happen to be each other. Meanwhile owner Hugo Matuschek has marriage trouble, suspecting his wife of having an affair. Intelligent script with good supporting cast brings a surprising depth to the story. REVIEWS

This is a great movie. And a underated movie. James Stewart should have won the Oscar for his performance in this film. In fact the entire cast are excellent. MGM should have pushed this movie in the Oscar race but instead they went with The Philadelphia Story which was also a 4 star movie. Anyway take a look at Shop Around the Corner. It's one of those gems from Hollywood's Golden Age.
