ABSTRACT
Standing as a fictionalized tale based on the FBI's true-life far-reaching ABSCAM operation of the late 1970s and early 1980s, American Hustle follows Irving Rosenfeld, a quick-witted and capable con man who is pressured by FBI agent Richie DiMaso into infiltrating New Jersey's notorious Mafia-infested criminal underworld, theoretically assisting in bringing down a number of corrupt politicians and power-brokers along the way.
