REVIEWS

Review by Centerport (posted on 6-Jun-2009)

One of the best anti war movies made. It shows the incompetence of officers and the callus waste of good men. Eddie Albert and Jack Palance are super as the villian and the hero with a great supporting cast of Ebsen, Jaekal and Lee Marvin. It is unfortunate as it is rarely shown (it's in black and white) probably because it is too intense and graphic, as Jack Palance has his arm run over by a tank. However, it does not white wash the horror of war thus making it a must see for war movie fans.It is the antithesis of John Wayne's "Sands of Iwo Jima" with some really great acting without the cliches.
