REVIEWS

Review by A.D. Keith (posted on 12-Sep-2005)

Excellent movie. Huston the best. Great insight as actor portraying president first the puppet of bad guys, and later the transformed product of apparently angel's influence. Did movie give Japanese the idea to bomb American ships in 1941, and also as far as wars ruining entire cities did it give Germany the idea to bomb London in World War Two? Not a bad beginning to all the work programs FDR instituted in the 1930s. FDR really had his hands full with the hobo camps started in the Hoover era. Hoover tried, but he couldn't feed these people (it seems I remember "Hooverville" from "Annie" -- another Great Depression-era story).

Perhaps Bush now has seen the need for presidential intervention in the Katrina crisis, and will see to it that these victims are fed, clothed and housed. His next assignment will be to make sure the returning war veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan receive the same benefits, or perhaps later there could be a repeat of war veterans living in hobo camps unable to find jobs that no longer exist due to the changing times.

I am a History Major at The Ohio State University. GO BUCKS!
