Founded 1874 by Chauncey Rose as Rose Polytechnic Institute, renamed in 1971 to Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology after a donation of land by the Hulman family and a later donation of $11M by Tony and Mary Fendrich Hulman. Formerly a men's school, coeducational in 1991.
