Large cable TV provider, founded 1968 as American Tele-Communications by the merger of Western Microwave with Community Television. The name was changed later that year to Tele-Communications Inc., and headquarters moved to Denver. In 1970 the company became public, and in 1972, John C. Malone joined. TCI was acquired by AT&T in 1999.
