Macy's
COMPANY
Founded by Rowland H. Macy in 1858 in New York City. It went public in 1922. The company's flagship store on New York's Herald Square in 1902, which has been cited by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest store since its expansion in 1924. Bankruptcy in 1991, merged into Federated Department Stores in 1994, which assumed its name in 2007. There are presently over 800 Macy's stores in the US.
